Advising Institutions on Emerging Technologies
For the previous five years at BKC I contributed that institution's Policy Practice, in which governmental, nonprofit and industry came together to share knowledge and build capacity in identify and addressing key challenges at the intersection of society and impactful technologies. Since then, I have continued this advisement on my own and through my work with the Network of Centers. A few recent examples include
- co-writing this short essay on AI policy for the Latin American region [Spanish version]. After the post was widely read by Latin American policymakers and decisionmakers, I had the honor of being invited to present to ministers of state from Latin America as they gathered in Santiago de Chile for the first time since COVID to determine a new AI policy agenda for the region;
- participating in expert roundtables with policymakers in various nations in support of the development of technology governance approaches such as this National Artificial Intelligence Strategy of Costa Rica;
- contributing to the Global Tech Policy Practice at the Technical University of Munich, which I co-taught [course syllabus] [my slide decks]; &
- moderating NoC learning calls about tech policy issues including taxing AI and the state of AI regulation across the globe.
