Teaching in the Global Tech Policy Practice at TUM
An innovative and interactive program that offers students in-depth understanding of how digital policies are created and what their real-world implications are.
While at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) this past month, I had the privilege of coteaching in the Global Tech Policy Practice course [syllabus] along with over a dozen speakers representing different disciplinary and national perspectives from across the globe. An exceptional opportunity for the participating students, the program provided a broad foundation on the nature of governance with deep dives into specific policy cases, cross-cutting issues that span sectoral and national contexts, and tools and methods for policy-making. My contributions to the program were talks on "US Efforts to Support AI in the Public Internet" [slide deck], "Engaging Stakeholders in Policy with Quick and Simple Studies" [slide deck], and "Digital Data as a Resource for the Commons" [slide deck].
